Together with the colleagues of Bridge a weekend of fun in the sun!

Friday morning, 23 September 2005, very early (5.30 A.M.!!) we checked in for the flight to Faro (Portugal). The two directors of the company I work for had decided to celebrate the 5th anniversary of their company in Rochas Bravas in Portugal. All employees including their spouses were invited. So there we all were, very early, some of us bright and shiny, some not so bright or shiny, but ready to fly to Faro.

We arrived in a sunny Portugal were a coach took us first to the Sheraton Hotel (one of the best in Europe) to have coffee and cake on a terrace set on the edge of a cliff. The views were magnificent as you can see on the pictures. Before lunch we explored the beach a bit. Michel and Tom build a sand castle. The rest of us enjoyed the view from the cliff or relaxed on the beach or on the terrace down at the beach. After that we had a fabulous Moroccan style lunch next to the hotel. It was absolutely delicious.

After lunch the coach took us to the apartments which were booked for us in Rocha Brava. After check-in and a quick change into swim wear we all met at the swimming pool. We had a lot of fun there. Everybody was very relaxed and enjoying the sun.

One of our directors had bought a house close by and we were invited for a barbeque party on the tennis court. There we gave a present to both directors: they both got a painting of the two grumpy old men of the Muppets Show, but with their faces instead of the Muppets. They were very surprised and happy with this gift.

After that the party went on for a couple of hours until the coach took us back to the apartments. Most of us went straight to bed as it has been a long day.

The next day everybody could spend it freely. We went with two colleagues of mine to a small village close by. There we visited some shops and looked for a market. Unfortunately there is no fresh market there so we had lunch at a square at the beach. Very delicious. In the afternoon we went back to the swimming pool to get some more tan.

In the evening we all got ready to go to a Portuguese restaurant to have the famous chicken Piri Piri. The chicken was very nice, so was the wine. As some of us wanted to explore the night life in town, the coach dropped some of us in the town centre. The rest of us went back to the hotel. There we all collected some bottles and glasses from our room and met at the swimming pool for some last drinks. This was a lot of fun; in fact so much fun we made too much noise for the other guests. So we were kindly asked by security to keep the noise down. We soon left as we all got a bit tired. Later that morning the group who spent the night in town came back and had the same idea. Again security had to stop by to ask to keep the noise down. Poor other guests. Luckily for them we would leave the next day.

The next morning we packed our bags and spent a few hours in the sun. Then we left for lunch in the mountains. The coach had to take a very narrow path up into the mountains which scared a couple of us. The path was maybe 10 centimeters wider than the coach, so you can imagine how scary it was. The lunch was very delicious and we all enjoyed it. Unfortunately we had to leave again. And the coach took us down the same path, which was even scarier. We made it down to the normal road again and went off to the airport for the evening flight home.

The next day at work the weekend was of course talk of the day and we all put the pictures on the server. Have a look at ours or watch the video in medium or high quality.
