Together with Marsha and Jeroen we went for a weekend to Madrid. We had lots of delicious food, a picnick in the park, visited the Prado museum and enjoyed the sun.

The City Trip…

Where were we going to go this year? Jeroen & I preferred Dublin for the Guiness & the pubs, but the ladies wanted to go to Madrid for the shopping & sunshine… So, Madrid it was to be.

We stayed at the Gran Versalles hotel which was an excellent choice (thanks Flo!).

Madrid is a beautiful city, with many great shops and big squares. We toured the city mostly by foot or using the Metro.

It’s impossible to see a city the size of Madrid in 4 days, but we managed to see quite a bit. We went to the Palace, the Prado, visited the Parque del Retiro and had to stop at many bars and terraces to sample the wine and Sangria. We also had dinner at the Botin restaurant, which is, According to the Guiness book of records, the oldest restaurant in the world, dating from 1725.

When we went for a picnic in the park we forgot our screwdriver.... The bottle of Cava was no problem to open without one, but the bottle of red wine proofed a bit more problematic. But Jeroen (bikkel) saved the day as you can see in the Video....

And you can see the pictures here.
