Diving!

I got up at 7 since the car to the city left at 7.30. The boat of the Lanta Divers is a luxurious 21 meter long boat with 2 decks. As soon as we left the harbour a huge breakfast was served. It took us about 2 hours to sail to a rock south of Koh Phi Phi. Here we made our first dive which lasted for 45 minutes. A nice and relaxing dive with lots of sea life and a 20 meter visibility.

After a surface interval of 1 hour we went down for a second dive. This one was relatively shallow, between 3 and 14 meter. We managed to stay down for over 1 hour and saw a couple of 3 meter long Leopard sharks, laying docile on the sand. Beautiful! If you’ve never seen one here’s your chance: Click on any of the pictures to see a larger version.

On the way back we had a very nice lunch, sat around and enjoyed the view.

In town I once again checked if the ATM was working, it wasn't. As I didn't want to have to drive into town just to get money, I exchanged part of our US dollars at an exchange agency. They listed 3 different rates for the US$. It took me a while before I understood that the higher the bank note, the better the exchange rate they offered. Very weird people.

I got back at around 5 pm to find Inge laying in the shade and reading a bit. On the beach there was a place where you could get a Thai massage. I got a beer, took the 1 hour massage and watched the sun set. What a perfect day!
