My second day diving!

Today I was the only non-German aboard the boat. The guide was Yugoslavian so I resigned myself to speaking German. I dove with a German couple named Sven and Ulrike who had a really nice Canon Ixus digital camera with an underwater house. We took some great pictures underwater which they e-mailed me. Thanks Ulrike!

The first dive was in Ras Abu Soma, a bit further south from were we dove the first time. We saw some very large Murena’s and many other colourful fish. The dive lasted for 51 minutes and was great.

After some lunch and a nap we sailed around the corner to Tobia Arbaa, where there are 7 natural sort of chimneys standing almost next to another. The sea floor is at about 17 meter and the chimneys almost reach to the surface. Many Picasso Trigger fish and Lion fish hide in and around these chimneys. The jelly fish population there was so big that snorkelling was impossible. Have a look at the video I shot there. As always you can chose between high, medium or low quality.

After we came back I paid for the trips and joined Inge at the beach for a beer and some sun.

Diving makes you hungry, so we got some dinner and went once more to the Dockers bar for a gin tonic for me and a pina colada for Inge. Next to us was an English couple who had gotten a water pipe. We started chatting and found out they came from the east of London.

Sam and Lee (they live in East London, or as we call it, Essex) had only arrived the day before and were sampling the Egyptian delights. I also had a try at a water pipe (nope, no hashish included) and found it is not bad, very fresh and light to smoke.

Before we knew it was 1:30 am and we stumbled back to our room after way to many rounds of Whiskeys and gin tonic. The waiter, Achmed, was a good laugh. As we were all-inclusive guests and Sam & Lee only booked half board, they would normally have to pay for their drinks. But Achmed gave us all the receipts which we only had to sign, not pay.

That night the TV appeared to have 2 red lights instead of one…
